One in, two out? Man Utd close to signing Brighton goal-scorer Elisabeth Terland in much-needed good news with Mary Earps and Lucia Garcia primed to depart

Manchester United are ready to sign Brighton striker Elisabeth Terland, adding a positive to a tough week set to be marred by Mary Earps' exit.

WHAT HAPPENED?
It was revealed on Tuesday that the Lionesses' No.1 is primed to leave on a free to join Paris Saint-Germain, with forward Lucia Garcia likely to follow her out of the door. However, United are at least going to bolster that front line with the addition of Terland, with BBC Sport reporting that a deal is close.

The Norway star had a fantastic season for struggling Brighton in 2023-24, scoring 13 of her team's 26 goals in the Women's Super League. As her contract on the south coast expires, those efforts look ready to be rewarded with a jump up to a United side battling further up the table.

With the futures of Melvine Malard (loan expired), Nikita Parris and Rachel Williams (both out of contract) also unclear, Terland's arrival would be a welcome boost for the Red Devils as they look to bounce back from a disappointing season which ended in a worst-ever WSL finish of fifth.
