Liverpool eager to avoid wild goose chase for Alexander Isak as Reds make Newcastle star top target amid Arsenal, Chelsea & Barcelona interest

Per David Ornstein of The Athletic, Liverpool are interested in signing Isak this summer but there is also interest from the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona. Newcastle value the Sweden international at £150 million ($193m), but the Reds are keen to avoid a bidding war, or as Ornstein puts it, a "wild goose chase".

Isak has been electric for Newcastle this season, scoring 19 goals in 24 Premier League outings. He also has five assists, meaning he has a goal contribution for every game he has played in the league this term.

Newcastle are said to be planning for the future with Isak, as he has a contract until 2028, and their eye-watering asking price is set as such to ensure that the centre-forward remains at the club. Liverpool would only be willing to make a move if he were to communicate a desire to leave.

Newcastle play West Ham on Monday evening. They are currently sixth in the Premier League table, three points behind fourth-placed Manchester City.
