Liverpool offered new Darwin Nunez escape route as AC Milan 'dream' of signing Uruguay striker amid rival interest from Napoli

A report by Gazzetto Dello Sport has linked the Rossoneri with a move for the Uruguayan, as they look to bring in a "no.9 capable of guaranteeing goals". This sets up a potential transfer battle between Milan and Napoli, as Antonio Conte is rumoured to be a fan of the player, and is adamant that he should make the switch to Naples.

Nunez was in and out of Arne Slot's side during the 2024-25 season. With the impending acquisition of Florian Wirtz, who can play as the focal point in an attacking three, Nunez's position has come under threat, making a move away increasingly likely. The striker's reported salary of €4.7m per year would be expensive for the two Italian clubs, but is far from prohibitive.

Nunez has flashed moments of brilliance during his three years on Merseyside, but he's lacked the requisite consistency to merit the astronomical £85m fee Liverpool paid Benfica for his services. The Uruguayan has scored 40 goals in 143 games for the Reds.
