Kai Havertz issues 'tough to process' statement from hospital bed as Arsenal star undergoes surgery on hamstring injury

Havertz suffered an injury during Arsenal's mid-season training camp in Dubai last week and it was confirmed by the Gunners that the Germany international had suffered a tear in his hamstring, essentially ending his season. Havertz has now successfully undergone surgery for his injury.

On X, Havertz wrote: "The last few days have been tough to process both physically and mentally. But yesterday was a good day. A successful op and a win.

"Thanks for all the messages of support over the last few days, it’s really helped.

"I’m now focused on my journey to full fitness and giving all the support I can give to the team in the background."

Arsenal's entire season has been injury-riddled, with many key players missing extended periods of time. Gabriel Jesus, like Havertz, is out for the season, while Bukayo Saka is still several weeks away from returning to action.

Mikel Arteta is left light on options in attack with Raheem Sterling, Leandro Trossard and 17-year-old Ethan Nwaneri being his only natural options in the first team. Midfielder Mikel Merino scored twice after being utilised as a striker in Saturday's 2-0 victory at Leicester.
