Juventus ready to make sensational January swoop for Lille sensation

A recent report from Calciomercato has revealed that Juventus are seriously considering a January transfer for Lille striker Jonathan David, whose contract with the Ligue 1 outfit expires on June 30, 2025.

David has been one of the best players in Ligue 1 and has put on some solid displays against top sides in the Champions League this season, including Juventus. The former Gent prodigy has found the back of the net 95 times in 197 appearances for the club.

He is, however, yet to pen down a new contract with Lille. David will be free to talk to clubs regarding a pre-contract agreement in January in order to sign for free. Juventus, though, have different plans.

The Bianconeri have been actively searching the market for a reliable striker who could deputise for Dusan Vlahovic in the absence of the injured Arkadiusz Milik. In David, though, not only do Juve believe that he can be a good reinforcement in attack, but also think that he can usurp Vlahovic in the starting XI to become first-choice No. 9.

The report from Calciomercato further added that Juventus really like David's profile, and that the player has already had conversations with Juve head coach Thiago Motta. Lille, although afraid of losing David for free next summer, will accept an offer of no less than €20 million for a transfer to take place in January.

Juventus will next be seen in action in the Derby della Mole against Torino on Saturday, November 9, at the Allianz Stadium. Motta's men remain the only side in Serie A to not have lost a match so far this season, although they are reeling in sixth position, four points off the top.
