    WHAT JURGEN KLOPP SAID

Speaking to reporters on Friday, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp said: “I don’t know if Darwin will be available or not.

“After 20 minutes someone stepped on his foot. It was very painful. He only took his boot off after the game because he didn’t want to see it before. He knew there was something (wrong).

“Nothing broken, X-ray clear, but it’s swollen. We have to see if he can get his foot back into a boot or not. That takes time.”

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Nunez was spotted leaving Anfield wearing a protective boot on Wednesday, and subsequent scans indicated heavy bruising without any fractures. Since there is no serious damage, if the swelling reduces considerably then Klopp might want to take the risk of throwing him into the mix since the fixture holds immense significance in the title race.

    WHAT NEXT?

Nunez will be fired up to take to the pitch at the Emirates to make amends for his missed penalty against Chelsea. He has 11 goals to his name this season and will be desperate to add more to his tally in a crucial fixture that could potentially shape the title race, with the Gunners are just five points behind Klopp's troops.
