    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Reyes Lopez has impressed those at Real Madrid with his goalscoring ability. The teenager has also scored four goals in seven outings with the Spain U17 team. It's a sign that he has inherited the talent from his late father, who spent a season at Real Madrid in 2006-07, coming in on loan from Arsenal.

Sadly, the Sevilla icon tragically passed away in 2019 in a car accident at the age of 35.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez promised Spanish journalist Cristobal Soria in 2019, following Reyes' death, that he would personally look after Reyes Lopez until he turned 18.

"It's an incredible detail that he said he'd look after the 11-year-old son [of Reyes]. Perez told me that he'd look out for him until his 18th birthday and that he wouldn't have to worry about anything," Soria revealed on El Chiringuito in 2019 (as quoted by MARCA).

    WHAT NEXT FOR REAL MADRID?

Real Madrid were scheduled to take on Valencia on Saturday, November 2, but the game has been officially postponed due to the flash floods in northern Spain. With over 100 people killed, Valencia is one of the worst-hit cities in Spain. They will directly contest in the mid-week Champions League fixture against AC Milan at the Bernabeu.
