Jesse Marsch in contention to succeed Jurgen Klinsmann as South Korea boss ahead of 2026 World Cup

Sports Chosun in South Korea reports that the American is their top choice in managerial candidates to fill the vacant role. The former U.S. international has been out of work since February, 2023 after being sacked by Premier League side Leeds United.

After falling short in the 2024 Asia Cup, South Korea sacked head coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who was a former USMNT manager himself.

Marsch, meanwhile, has been working as a pundit for CBS Sports Soccer during the 2024 season, while also making guest appearances on UK television shows like Sky Sports as a featured analyst.

The American has been linked with Monaco, Leicester City, Birmingham City and the Canada national team in recent months, but now, Korea appear to be the frontrunners for his signature.

Marsch could end up coming up against the USA at the 2026 FIFA World Cup if he accepts the job.

The American has already interviewed for the job and is one of three final candidates, per the report. An announcement could be made as soon as this week, it added.
