Jack Grealish is back! Man City star set to start for England against Ireland as Lee Carsley makes key changes for first game in charge

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    The Manchester City winger was recalled to the England squad after being left out by Gareth Southgate for Euro 2024 this summer. Lee Carsley is starting his tenure as interim boss while the FA weigh up their options and according to The Athletic, the temporary head coach will lean on his experienced players including Grealish for the match against the Republic of Ireland.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Carsley has selected a mix of youth and experience for his first Three Lions squad. Alongside Grealish, Harry Maguire and Marc Guehi are also in line to start in Dublin. Grealish has been in and out of the Manchester City team so far this season but has looked much sharper than he did in 2023-24.

    Grealish has earned 32 caps for his country, scoring twice. His first goal came against Andorra in a World Cup qualifier in 2021, before netting at the tournament in Qatar against Iran.
