  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Alexander Isak has been a consistent performer for Newcastle United since joining the club in 2022. After helping his side achieve a top four finish in his maiden campaign, in the current season he has contributed with 21 goals and five assists across all competitions. Several top clubs are eyeing a move for the Swedish striker in the summer, including Arsenal and Liverpool, although the Magpies have made it clear that they won't part ways with their star player irrespective of their finish in the Premier League this season.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Gunners legend Ian Wright has now weighed in on the club's transfer stance and warned them that if the Reds chase Isak after winning the Premier League this time, it is unlikely that the Sweden international would choose to move to Emirates Stadium.

  • WHAT IAN WRIGHT SAID

Speaking on The Overlap with Sky Bet, Wright said: "With what Alexander Isak has done and who he is, I would buy him for £120m, no danger. If we could get him, you need to chase that. I would be devastated if Arsenal weren’t in for him. I'd hate to see the scenario where it's Liverpool or Arsenal. He would probably go to Liverpool. I’d like to think Mikel Arteta could convince him but look at Liverpool and Arne Slot.

"Slot hasn’t even got his own players in yet. That seems like a move attractive proposition but again, Arsenal will need to do the work. I would hate it if it was between Arsenal and Liverpool because he would probably go for Liverpool with the way it’s gone for Arne Slot."
