Kane recovery not as quick as first hoped

Kane limped off in the closing stages of the Bundesliga clash, sparking fears over his fitness just days before England’s international double-header. Despite initial hopes of a quick recovery, the 32-year-old was absent from full training on Wednesday, as revealed by The Independent.

  • Kane works away from main group

While Thomas Tuchel’s squad trained outdoors, Kane stayed inside, following a personalised recovery routine under the watchful eyes of medical staff. He was joined by fellow Bundesliga player Jarell Quansah, who is also nursing a minor issue. Sources close to the camp insist the setback isn’t deemed serious, but the timing is far from ideal.

What Kane said after Frankfurt game

Despite the concern, Kane had attempted to calm the nerves after the Frankfurt game, brushing off fears of a long layoff.

"I am recovering at the moment. I took a knock," he said. "A few days and then I should be fine, so no problem for the national team. I will be there on Monday."

  • Tuchel’s selection dilemma, who steps up?

If Kane is unable to face Wales, Tuchel faces a selection headache. With only one recognised striker at his disposal, Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins is the obvious replacement. However, the forward has endured a shaky start to the new campaign, prompting speculation that Tuchel could experiment with a winger in a false-nine role. Anthony Gordon and Marcus Rashford have both operated centrally before, and either could be asked to shoulder the burden against Wales if Kane fails to prove his fitness in time.

England’s record man still chasing history

Kane’s international career has already been nothing short of legendary. Since making his debut in 2015, the striker has earned 109 caps and captained his country with distinction. He sits just 16 appearances shy of matching Peter Shilton’s all-time record, a milestone that looks well within reach. Even more staggering is his goal tally: 74 and counting. Kane has rewritten England’s scoring history, setting a benchmark that few could have imagined being broken. Even if he sits out against Wales, the forward should be back in contention for the World Cup qualifier against Latvia on October 14.
