Harry Kane snubbed! Kieran Trippier explains why he doesn't want to join England captain at Bayern Munich

Newcastle rejected a £12.8 million ($16.3m) bid from Bayern for the 33-year-old earlier this month, with the German side then ruling out a possible reunion for former Tottenham team-mates Harry Kane and Trippier. Now, the England international, whose contract at St James' Park runs until 2025, has pledged his future to the Magpies.

Following Newcastle's 2-0 FA Cup win at Fulham on Saturday, he told BBC Radio Newcastle: "There's no place I'd rather be. There's been a lot of speculation about me recently but, as always, I'm committed here. 100% committed, as I have been since I first signed."

On the interest from Bayern, he added: "It's over. As I've said before, I'm committed. I've had a nice break with my family and I'm not worrying about anything. I'm committed to the club - they've done a lot for me and I want to give back. I've been quiet but not thrown my toys out of the pram or anything. I'm happy here, like I've always said, and want to give everything for the club."

Trippier has proven to be a superb recruit for Newcastle after signing from Atletico Madrid in January 2022 for £12m ($15m). The former Spurs man was the Magpies' first transfer following their Saudi-backed takeover in late 2021 and since then he has regularly captained Eddie Howe's side. While his form has been a bit shaky of late, and the club have suggested they may have to sell their top players, the England international is going nowhere.

Trippier's Newcastle, who sit 10th in the Premier League, are back in action in the English top-flight on Tuesday away to Aston Villa. They also await the fifth round FA Cup draw following their fourth-round victory over Fulham.
