The win had a slight impact at the bottom of the table, although much was already decided. Both sides had largely sealed their fates ahead of this match, which had the potential to be a relegation decider just a few short weeks ago.
Even with the win, Forest finish their season in 17th, seven points behind 16th-place Brentford. Nuno Espirito Santo's side ended up six points clear of the relegation zone by the end of it all, although they headed into Sunday's match essentially safe. Luton would have needed a Forest loss and a massive goal swing to have any chance of survival, with Forest's win ending any hopes of a miracle.
Burnley, meanwhile, finished 19th, joining Luton and Sheffield in the drop to the Championship for next season.
