<p>After just 17 minutes, Al Ahli Tripoli took the lead when Agostinho Mabululu pounced on a loose ball, tapping into an open net.</p><p>Simba responded in the 35th minute, leveling the score at 1-1 with a stunning overhead kick from Kibu Denis. Fadlu Davids’ side then went ahead just before halftime, as Leonel Ateba capitalized on a defensive error to make it 2-1.</p><p>The final blow came in added time when Jean Charles Ahoua struck, sealing a 3-1 win and securing Simba's progression in the tournament. </p>

<p>In July, Fadlu Davids took on his first head coaching role outside South Africa, joining Simba.&nbsp;</p><p>He brought along a South African contingent working behind the scenes, including former Pirates performance analyst Darian Wilken, goalkeeper coach Wayne Sandilands, strength and conditioning coach Riedoh Berdien and performance analyst Mueez Kajee. </p>
