    THE BIGGER PICTURE

United fans tried to get under the striker's skin by chanting the name of club icon Keane. The song was in reference to Keane's horrific tackle on Haaland's father, Alf-Inge, during a Manchester derby in 2001. Keane was sent off for the challenge and Alf-Inge only played a handful of matches for City afterwards and then retired.

  • WHAT THEY SAID

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Haaland played dumb about the chant directed at him, saying: "People were singing to me 'Keano' [after the penalty], I don't know why but it is what it is. It was a nice celebration and a nice game."
