  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Chelsea were comfortable winners against the Hammers on Saturday, as Nicolas Jackson's brace and Cole Palmer's superb finish gave the Blues a 3-0 victory. They have now lost just one of their opening five games, winning three and drawing one, but Maresca insists there is still plenty of room for improvement.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Chelsea moved second in the league table as a result of their victory, although they could well drop back down if Arsenal beat Manchester City on Sunday. Maresca, though, is not exactly satisfied.

  • WHAT MARESCA SAID

Maresca told reporters post-match: "I think we are on the right path. We are on the right direction. This is a long journey. Because we are in a good moment, it looks like everything is fine but not everything is fine. We could attack better, we could defend better. The most important thing is how the players work together."

    WHAT NEXT?

Chelsea play Barrow in the League Cup in midweek, in what is an opportunity for Maresca to rotate. They will then face Brighton at Stamford Bridge next weekend in the Premier League.
