Elliot Lee injuries revealed after Wrexham star's car crash - with Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney & Phil Parkinson unlikely to see midfielder again for 'a bit of time'

The 30-year-old playmaker, who joined the Red Dragons ahead of their National League title-winning campaign in 2022-23, was involved in a road traffic accident when travelling home from Wrexham’s Football League Trophy quarter-final win over Bolton.

Lee was taken to hospital, but suffered no major damage. He was, however, absent from Parkinson’s matchday plans for a 2-0 League One victory over Northampton – with no risks about to be taken on his fitness.

Parkinson has told reporters when delivering an update on Lee and how long he could be sidelined for: "It's difficult to put a time on that. Elliot's got a bit of trauma in his body, in general, and obviously bruising to his rib cage and some muscle damage there.

"We don't know the extent of it yet because we just want things to settle and then bring him back in this week. We'll assess Elliot this week but obviously we just want to give him a bit of time before he comes back in. Elliot's a key player for us, he's our top scorer. We need him back but obviously we've got to make sure he's right."

Lee, who has been named in National League and League Two Teams of the Season across the last two campaigns, has registered eight goals through 30 appearances for Wrexham this term. He is tied to a contract in North Wales through to the summer of 2027.
