    Mohamed El Shenawy - 7/10

The Al Ahly gloveman was at his usual best in goals and his efforts saw him ending up being injured two minutes before regulation time.

    Omar Kamal - 7/10

The right-back had Nicolas Pepe to deal with and he did well to shut out the Arsenal star.

  • Ahmed Abou El Fotouh of Egypt.Sports Mole.

Ahmed Abou El Fotouh - 6/10

Coming back from injury, the Zamalek man did not disappoint playing as a left-back where he frustrated Max Gradel in some moments of the contest.

  • Ahmed Hegazy of Egypt.Backpagepix.

    Ahmed Hegazy - 7.5/10

The centre-back led from the back and showed his experience.

Hegazy managed to keep at bay waves of attacks by the Elephants and was a threat to head in setpieces for Egypt.

  • Mohamed Abdelmonem of Egypt Afcon 2021.Backpagepix.

    Mohamed Abdelmonem - 7/10

The 22-year-old combined well with Hegazy at the back and deserves two thumbs up.

  • Amr El Solia - egypt - arab cup 2021 - qatargetty

    Amr El Sulaya - 6/10

In some moments, the central midfielder struggled to win the midfield battle and left the backline exposed.

  • Mohamed Elneny of Egypt.Backpagepix.

    Mohamed Elneny - 6/10

The Arsenal midfielder has started all four of Egypt's matches in this tournament but has been struggling to impose himself in attack.

He has been doing very little to supply the men in front of him with clean balls although he has done commendably well in recoveries.

  • Hamdi Fathi Yacine Brahimi Egypt Algeria Arab cup 07.12.2021Getty Images

    Hamdi Fathi - 5.5/10

He was paired in central midfield with his Al Ahly teammate Al Sulaya but was the weakest of the two.

That created the pathway for Ivorian attacks to leave the centre-backs under pressure in dealing with the likes of Sebastien Haller and Ibrahim Sangare.

  • Mohamed SalahGetty Images

    Mohamed Salah - 6/10

Salah is struggling to click with the other Pharaohs attackers and no formidable combination has been witnessed so far.

His major influence in this game was, however, converting the deciding penalty which sent Egypt through.

  • Omar Marmoush of Egypt.Backpagepix.

    Omar Marmoush - 6/10

The Stuttgart forward started the match on a promising note but fizzled out as the game progressed.

That saw him being the first man to be taken off by coach Carlos Queiroz in the 71st minute.

  • Mostafa MohamedGetty Images

    Mostafa Mohamed - 5.5/10

The Galatasaray star was guilty of missing a number of chances.

It was a surprise he lasted so long in the match, only to be substituted on 90 minutes.

  • Trezeguet EgyptGetty Images

    Trezeguet - 5/10

Trezeguet did nothing to change the game with his fresh legs after coming on for Marmoush.

His performance could justify why Queiroz has not been handing him regular game time despite getting into this tournament after a long injury layoff.

  • Zizo, Egypt, January 2022Backpagepix

    Zizo - 6/10

He was thrown in for Fathi as Queiroz sought to throw more numbers upfront, but the Zamalek attacker failed to score.

  • Mohamed Abou Gabal Gabaski, Egypt, January 2022Backpagepix

    Gabaski - 7.5/10

The Zamalek goalkeeper came on for the injured El Shenawy and did well to maintain a clean sheet.

He picked up from where El Shenawy had left off and went on to become a hero by saving Manchester United defender Eric Bailly's penalty.

    Mohamed Sherif - 5/10

The Al Ahly forward was not very different from Mostafa Mohamed whom he came in for.
