Edu is back! Nottingham Forest confirm appointment of ex-Arsenal sporting director as new global head of football

Edu has been officially unveiled as Nottingham Forest’s Global Head of Football in a newly created senior role. The former Brazil and Arsenal executive will be responsible for all football-related operations at the club. His remit will also stretch across Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis' wider football network, including Olympiacos and Rio Ave.

Edu's appointment signals Forest's ambition to establish a more sophisticated and international football model. The Brazilian arrives after five influential years at Arsenal, where he played a pivotal role in reshaping the club’s sporting direction. His hiring comes as Forest prepare for European football, though they still seek stability on and off the pitch.

Speaking to Nottingham Forest club media, Edu said: “I’m truly excited about this new chapter and honoured by the trust placed in me. This project connects deeply with my values around innovation and long-term planning.
