Better than Cristiano Ronaldo! Man City star Mateo Kovacic could overtake Portugal legend - alongside host of other players - with unique Club World Cup record

Kovacic's illustrious career includes winning the Champions League three times during his tenure with Real Madrid. After joining Chelsea in 2019, he added another Champions League title, defeating Manchester City in the 2021 final, and secured the Club World Cup with the Blues.

In the summer of 2023, Kovacic made a move to Manchester City, clinching his first trophy, the Uefa Super Cup, almost immediately. Now, with the Club World Cup in sight, he aims to secure his second title with the Citizens.

If successful, Kovacic, at the age of 29, would surpass football greats like Cristiano Ronaldo, Toni Kroos, David Alaba, and Antonio Rudiger, who have each won the Club World Cup with two different clubs. Since he has already bagged the top prize with Real Madrid (2016, 2017) and Chelsea (2021), he would become the first player to win the FIFA tournament with three different teams.

Kovacic was an integral part of the Real Madrid squad that made the historic Champions League three-peat under Zinedine Zidane by winning the trophy in 2015-16, 2016-17, & 2017-18.

Urawa Red and Brazilian side Fluminense pose the final two hurdles in City's quest for the Club World Cup, and Kovacic is determined to carve his name in history by achieving this unique accomplishment. He will be in action against Urawa in a semi-final clash on Tuesday and a win would see them take on Fluminense in the final on Friday.
