Manchester United may have left it late, but they still managed to hand new manager Rúben Amorim a fresh addition in Patrick Dorgu, the promising Lecce left-back who has committed his future to Old Trafford until 2030.

The 20-year-old Dane arrived for £25 million ($31m/€30m), with an additional £4 million ($5m/€4.8m) in potential add-ons, joining 18-year-old defender Ayden Heaven as one of United’s mid-season reinforcements. Dorgu will now link up with his international compatriot Rasmus Højlund as the Red Devils aim to reclaim their status as a Premier League top-four force.

    New signings summer 2024 window

A defensive overhaul has been high on the agenda at Old Trafford this year. The double signings of centre-back Matthijs de Ligt and full-back Noussair Mazraoui in a reported £60 million ($70m) raid of Bayern Munich and Leny Yoro's switch from Lille in a £58 million ($75m) move makes that pretty evident.

Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee arrives from Bologna with a burgeoning reputation and will be a welcome addition to the Red Devils' attacking arsenal.

United also completed two Deadline Day transfers as Sekou Kone was roped in from Guidars FC, and apart from the £51 million ($60m) Manuel Ugarte signing from PSG.

    Departures summer 2024 window

Manchester United's summer transfer window has not only seen the arrival of new faces but also the departure of several players.

Mason Greenwood's move to Olympique Marseille, alongside Willy Kambwala's transfer to Villarreal, marks the exit of two young talents seeking more playing time and opportunities to develop.

The departures of Alvaro Carreras to Benfica and Donny van de Beek to Girona further reshape the squad.

Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial, Shola Shoretire and Brandon Williams have all departed to make way for new additions. Sofyan Amrabat's loan spell also came to an end. Aaron Wan-Bissaka also left the club in a £15 million ($20m) move to West Ham United after five years at Old Trafford.

Among the later departures, Facundo Pellestri joined Greek side Panathinaikos, Shola Shoretire signed a permanent deal with PAOK, and Scott McTominay took a transfer to Napoli.
