  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Barcelona won their third Women's Champions League crown last season and are out to retain the title this season, with a quarter-final tie against Wolfsburg coming up. Hansi Flick's side, on the other hand, are going on 10 years without a European title and are set to face Benfica in the last-16 this season.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Putellas fancies her side's chances of going all the way to win the competition for the third time in a row and hopes that Lamine Yamal, Raphinha and Co. can make it a historic season for the club by doing the same.

  • WHAT PUTELLAS SAID

"We’re already the only club to have won the men’s and women’s Champions League, so the only thing even more historic to do than that would be to win it in the same season, right?" she said to FourFourTwo.

"For Barcelona that would a party night, for sure. But look, we both know that would be very, very difficult. A lot of things would have to go our way, working every day to achieve our goals, but if you prepare every day then it’s those small details that can make the difference when you’re competing in such big competitions against great teams."
