Can Harry Kane be stopped? Bundesliga rival in 'obviously not' admission ahead of meeting with Bayern Munich's 17-goal striker

England captain Kane found the target on 44 occasions across all competitions last season, landing him the European Golden Shoe. He has picked up where he left off in 2024-25, with three hat-tricks already being recorded in the current campaign.

Kane’s overall tally for Bayern stands at 61 goals in just 60 appearances, with a remarkable strike rate being maintained by the 31-year-old frontman. St Pauli are next in his sights, and they are one of the few teams in Germany that the prolific forward is yet to hit the net against.

Quizzed on whether there is any way of containing Kane and the threat that he poses, St Pauli midfielder Eric Smith has told the Bundesliga’s official website: "Obviously not, he is one of the best strikers in the world, so it is going to be tough, but I think if we are able to stop the players around him, then we can limit him as well. Of course, when you play against the best players in the world there is only so much you can do. If they have their day, it is going to be difficult. We know that, but we will try to make the guys around him feel unsecure and unable to give him the ball in the areas he wants.

"Of course, it is not only him when we play against Bayern Munich because they have probably some of the best players in the world in almost every position. So, it is going to be difficult, but we have to try and limit them as much as possible and make them do stuff that they are not that comfortable with."

While Kane has delivered on an individual basis for Bayern, they have endured an uncharacteristically barren run on the trophy front as a collective. Vincent Kompany is determined to get them back in the silverware hunt this season, allowing Kane to land the first silverware of his distinguished career.
