    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Yamal's current contract runs until 2026 and contains a buy-out clause set at an eye-popping €1 billion (£866m/$1bn). The winger's agent, Jorge Mendes, has previously confirmed that a new contract at Barca is in the offing and Yamal is hoping to put pen to paper on the deal soon.

  • WHAT YAMAL SAID

He told CNN: "I don’t know when (the contract will be signed), but I believe it’ll be soon. In the end, Barca is the club of my life. I hope to renew my contract with them and to be with them as long as possible. I want to play in the Spanish league. I want to play for Barca, and yes, I will renew my contract. I will.”
