Arsenal sweating on William Saliba's fitness for Man City showdown as key defender faces two weeks out with hamstring injury

Mikel Arteta could not name Saliba in Arsenal's matchday squad against Aston Villa last Saturday due to an injury. While the manager initially downplayed the injury, he later admitted that he was worried about his star defender's fitness, especially due to the Gunners' thin squad.

Per L’Equipe, Saliba could remain sidelined for two weeks due to a hamstring strain. The report further adds that the Frenchman will miss the club's next three games, which means he will be unavailable in their final two Champions League matches against Dinamo Zagreb and Girona, respectively and will not feature in the Premier League clash against Wolves next Saturday.

After the Girona encounter on January 29, the 23-year-old will face a race against time to recover fully and take the field in a crucial Premier League clash against reigning champions Manchester City at Emirates Stadium on February 2.

The North London side will be back in action on Wednesday as they host Dinamo Zagreb in their penultimate Champions League game.
