Arsenal make the 100 club! Gunners join four other European sides to bring up a century of goals in 2023 after strikes against Wolves

  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    It was business as usual for the North London side as they beat Gary O'Neil's Wolves side 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Emirates Stadium. Bukayo Saka and skipper Martin Odegaard propelled them to a comfortable 2-0 lead within the first quarter and the England international's strike was the Gunners' 100th goal across all competitions in 2023, making them just the the fifth team from the big five European leagues to reach the magic-figure.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    Arsenal's familiar rivals, City, are leading the charts with a whopping 137 goals to their name; powered by a certain Erling Haaland who has been in explosive form since touching down on English shores. In the second spot are Spanish giants, Real Madrid, with 119 goals. The departure of Karim Benzema has hardly hampered their goal-scoring prowess with summer signing Jude Bellingham firing on all cylinders. In the third and fourth spots are Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen of Germany with 111 and 110 goals respectively.

    Arsenal have amassed 29 goals in 14 matches but they have linked with a January move for Ivan Toney with Arteta looking to further reinforce his attack. They have won four of their last five Premier League games which have propelled them to the top spot and will be looking to continue with their good form when they face Luton Town on Tuesday evening.
