The display comes after Salah suggested that he will leave the club when his contract ends this summer, saying he has not yet received an offer to extend his stay.

Salah's record-breaking role against Newcastle comes three days after he fired Liverpool to a 2-0 win against Manchester City with a goal and an assist, and Slot suggested he "expects" the forward to keep this form up.

"After the week we had we could change the game which is a very positive thing to take. Every time we need Mo Salah he scores a goal," he told Amazon Prime. "We are hoping and expecting he can continue this for a long time. He was outstanding in the second half, he did many special things for us."

Liverpool will hope to get Salah's future wrapped up as the Premier League's top scorer shows no signs of slowing down and will have plenty of teams trying to sign him on a free transfer next year.
