AC Milan wages: Who is the best paid player at the Rossoneri and everything you need to know about Milan's salary bill

One of the clubs synonymous with the famous term "football heritage" are Italian heavyweights AC Milan, who are en route to reclaiming their spot as one of the most fearsome units in Europe.

The 1990s and 2000s marked a golden era for Serie A, as it emerged as arguably the best and most prestigious football league in the world. This period was defined by the dominance of AC Milan, whose unparalleled success on both the domestic and continental fronts solidified the league's global reputation.

However, the Rossoneri have been a shadow of their former self since they won their second most-recent Scudetto in 2011. It took them 11 long years to win another league title, while also failing to qualify for the Champions League for seven straight seasons between 2014-15 and 2020-21.

Today, AC Milan boast a talented roster with the potential to define an era at the iconic San Siro. Players like Christian Pulisic, Rafael Leao, Theo Hernandez, Mike Maignan, and Tijjani Reijnders have become key figures in the squad, and the Milan faithful have high hopes for them to lead the club to new heights.

So, who is the highest earner at Milan this season? And who is on the opposite end of the spectrum?

GOAL delved into the numbers from Capology and found out!

    Goalkeepers

French goalkeeper Mike Maignan is, without any surprises, the highest-paid goalkeeper in the squad, although some would argue that his €3,590,000 is insultingly low for someone who constantly finds himself in the 'best goalkeeper in the world' debate.

Backup goalies Marco Sportiello and Lorenzo Torriani earn less than a million euros and are therefore among the lowest-paid members of the AC Milan roster.

    NameSalary
    Mike Maignan€3,590,000
    Marco Sportiello€930,000
    Lorenzo Torriani€130,000

    Defenders

Surprisingly, veteran right-back Alessandro Florenzi is the highest-paid defender at the club, but he is not too far ahead of club captain Theo Hernandez. The duo each earn over €5 million annually.

It's also a surprise to see Emerson Royal, Fikayo Tomori, and Davide Calabria bag home a salary that is on par with neither their reputation nor their current status in the team.
Filippo Terracciano, Alex Jimenez, and Malick Thiaw are the three lowest-paid defenders at Milan.

    NameSalary
    Alessandro Florenzi€5,560,000
    Theo Hernandez€5,130,000
    Emerson Royal€4,630,000
    Fikayo Tomori€4,490,000
    Davide Calabria€3,700,000
    Matteo Gabbia€3,330,000
    Strahinja Pavlovic€3,150,000
    Filippo Terracciano€1,480,000
    Alex Jimenez€1,110,000

    Midfielders

Ismael Bennacer is the top-earning midfielder at Milan, which doesn't come as a big surprise given that he has been a mainstay at the club since his arrival in 2019 and has showcased his versatility consistently.

Milan fans won't be too happy to find out that midfield maverick Tijjani Reijnders is earning just a little over €2 million, much less than Youssouf Fofana, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Yunus Musah.

Academy graduate Kevin Zeroli is currently earning the least among all Milan midfielders.

    NameSalary
    Ismael Bennacer€7,040,000
    Youssouf Fofana€5,560,000
    Ruben Loftus-Cheek€5,130,000
    Yunus Musah€2,560,000
    Tijjani Reijnders€2,180,000
    Kevin Zeroli€280,000

    Attackers

Spain captain Alvaro Morata is the highest-paid forward at the club, taking home over €8 million annually. It's more than what superstar winger Rafael Leao earns.

Tammy Abraham is the third-highest earning forward at the club, with Samuel Chukwueze and Christian Pulisic also among those earning more than €5 million per season.

Luka Jovic and Noah Okafar are the least-earning forwards.

    NameSalary
    Alvaro Morata€8,330,000
    Rafael Leao€6,410,000
    Tammy Abraham€5,770,000
    Samuel Chukwueze€5,130,000

As you might have already figured out, Morata is the top earner at AC Milan, although he doesn't make eight figures annually.

Algeria international Bennacer is, surprisingly, the second-highest paid forward at the club, making more than Leao (third on this list).

Abraham and Florenzi round out the top five.
