ISL 2016 - Kerala Blasters held by CFL side Southern Samity

Kerala Blasters, the Indian Super League (ISL) franchise representing the Malabar, continued to remain unbeaten in pre-season ahead of their bow in the the third edition of the nation's most watched domestic football tournament. 

The Yellow and Blues are currently training in Kolkata after returning from the first stage of pre-season training in Thailand under new coach Steve Coppell. They played against Calcutta Football League (CFL) side Southern Samity, but a second win alluded the English coach, who witnessed his side held to a 1-1 draw. The match was contested at the Mohun Bagan Ground, on Friday, 23rd September. 

The match didn't get off to the best of starts for the Blasters, who fell behind in the 15th minute to a Torres strike for the Kolkata side. However, parity was restored in the 20th minute by Farukh Chaudhary, who bulged the back of the net after Kervens Belfort aided him with an effective assist. 

The match would see no more action at the goalmouths at the tie ended with a goal apiece for the contestants.
