Indian Super League: FC Goa to rope in Luis Barreto

The 34-year-old shot stopper will be signed up by Zico to complement Andrade and Kattimani in goal...
Luis Barreto is all set to join FC Goa for the Indian Super League (ISL) season 2.

Goal can reveal that the shotstopper will be the third and final domestic addition to Zico's side after acquiring Nicolau Colaco and Keenan Almeida last week.

Barreto had been East Bengal's third choice goalkeeper last season behind Subhasish Roy Chowdhury and Abhijit Mondal.

However, he did get a chance to play after Eelco Schattorie had opted to bench Mondal for below par displays and he did give a good account of himself.

Barreto was part of the Kerala Blasters in the inaugural ISL season but he only played a solitary match, coming on as a substitute in the semi-final against Chennaiyin FC. Even though the Elephants lost 3-1 in the second leg, they proceeded to the final on a 4-3 aggregate, eventually ending up as runners-up.

With Elinton Andrade slated to be the first choice custodian for FC Goa, Barreto will give fierce competition to Kattimani who had turned out for Dempo last season with the Goan club getting relegated at the last end of last season.

Barreto is currently undergoing in pre-season training with East Bengal for the upcoming Calcutta Football League (CFL).
