Reigning Indian Super League (ISL) champions, Atletico de Kolkata have confirmed the signing of Iain Hume. The Canadian striker last played for Kerala Blasters in the ISL where his side lost in the final minutes to Atletico de Kolkata.
“We, at Atlético de Kolkata welcome Iain Hume to our family and believe that it is going to be an exhilarating experience for him. With the signing of the first foreign player of this season it is our endeavour to assimilate the best possible team. I am sure we will again make the city and our fans proud,” Sanjiv Goenka, the chairman of the Kolkata based club said.
Hume was one of the stars of the inaugral edition of the ISL, scoring five goals and was awarded with the golden ball award for his stellar performances in the the tournament.
The 31-year old last played in England with league two side Tranmere Rovers where he signed a six months contract. He was released at the end of the season.
“I look forward to work with Iain Edward Hume this year. His last years performance and club commitments surely must be keeping him match ready when we embark on our quest for the trophy. Hopefully he will soon be the toast of all Atlético de Kolkata fans in India,” coach Antonio Lopez Habas added.
