Mondal, who started every game of the tournament except the first leg of the semi-final against FC Goa due to an injury, has been a rock at the back for Antonio Habas’ side.
His performances have been top class and even though he was guilty of losing concentration on a couple of occasions, according to Josemi, he was the best defender in the ISL.
“All the time I speak to him (Mondal) and try to help him as he is a good defender. I think he is the best defender in the league,” said Josemi.
The former Liverpool centre-back believes that Mondal has the maturity to play in some of the foreign leagues.
“We have spent four months together at Atletico de Kolkata and I think he has improved over the period. He has the quality to play in countries other than India. But concentration is most important for a defender and he loses it sometimes. But he is very clever and that's the most important thing,” he explained.
