Mikael Silvestre has penned a four month deal with Chennai franchise of the Indian Super League (ISL), Goal can confirm.
The 36-year old has played for some of the best clubs in the world, namely Manchester United, Arsenal, Inter Milan and Werder Bremen amongst a few.
He was in India for over a month as a pundit for a leading sports broadcaster during the World Cup.
According to sources close to the player, it is reliably learnt that the he held talks with the southern franchise last week.
“It (ISL) looks like it’s a big deal for Indian football. It’s a project that comes on the other side of the I-League. It is to attract more people and sponsors. It will be good for football in India generally,” Silvestre had told Goal back in July this year.
Silvestre was also on the radar of Mumbai City FC before the talks went cold eventually.
