The Indian football fraternity woke up to the somber news of the Team Bangalore's Indian Super League (ISL) franchise being scrapped, after Sun Group, the principle owners of the franchise, pulled out on grounds of non-feasible operations.
However, the gloom didn’t last long for fans across the subcontinent as the ISL announced that the eighth franchise that would replace Bangalore would be none other than Team Chennai.
The Chennai based franchise, whose owners will be announced in due time, will be represented at the international players draft by Prashant Agarwal, the CEO of Kshatriya Sports, and his team. They have collaborated with Inter Milan in India that still holds.
Anupam Dutta, the former Managing Director of Kellogs and the newly appointed ISL CEO, revealed the same at the ISL international player draft.
"The eigth team in the ISL is team Chennai. They will be represented by Prashant Agarwal, the CEO of Kshatriya Sports, and team. They have a collaboration with Inter Milan in India. The owners will be announced at an appropriate time," said Dutta.
