Atletico de Kolkata have added to their backroom staff by roping in former Orlando Pirates and Arcadia Shepherds custodian, Deshi Bhaktawer as the goalkeeping coach.
The South African is expected to join the Kolkata side in the pre-season immediately and then flying out to Spain for the team's second phase of preparation before returning to India for the Indian Super League (ISL) to kick off.
Bhaktawer, who had played a major part of his career for Arcadia Shepherds before a late stint with Orlando Pirates, now works as a coach and a TV analyst.
It is reported that it was chief coach, Habas who had personally asked for the appointment of Bhaktawer having worked in South Africa when he managed Mamelodi Sundowns and Wits University. This was when he noticed Bhaktawer's good work with SuperSport United FC where he served as a goalkeeping consultant.
This follows Kolkata managing to capture Champions League winner, Luis Garcia as their marquee player for the ISL.
