The inaugural edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) shall be held between October 12 to December 20, 2014. The IMG-Reliance’s conceptualized tournament was initially expected to kick-start on September 20, 2014.
As a consequence, the Federation Cup which was to kick-off on December 10, 2014 has been postponed to the 28th of the same month. The I-League will commence from January 17, 2015 as it has been put off by two weeks.
“Yes, the I-League and the Federation Cup have been postponed,” informed the All India Football Federation (AIFF) general secretary Kushal Das to Goal.
The tournament organizers had asked for a postponement in a meeting held earlier this month in Bangalore. However, the Indian FA had initially held their ground by stating that the ISL needs to be held between mid-September to December 7, 2014.
“The ISL will kick-off on October 12 and shall end by December 20,” Das mentioned.
