Mkhitaryan: Dortmund have to keep winning

The 24-year-old playmaker scored in his side's 2-0 DFB-Pokal victory over 1860 Munich on Tuesday but insists they must maintain their run
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan has urged his side to keep up their winning ways following Tuesday's DFB-Pokal triumph over 1860 Munich.

The 24-year-old scored in his side's 2-0 extra-time win at Allianz Arena to end a run of two games without victory, but he believes they must maintain their form ahead of their second Champions League clash with Olympique de Marseille next week.

"I’m very happy, and I had a lot of help from my teammates. It was a very good pass from Jonas Hofmann," the Armenian told after the win.

"The most important thing is that we won today. It was difficult, because our opponents are a very good team and were defending very well.

"In the end, we found some space to win the penalty and score the second goal. The home fans made an incredible atmosphere, but I would like to thank our supporters as well, because they came in numbers and supported us until the end. I’m happy we won this game for them.

"We have to win against Freiburg, because after that we have a Champions League game against Olympique de Marseille. If we beat Freiburg, we will be confident going into the next game."

Mkhitaryan joined Dortmund from Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer for a fee of €27.5 million and has four goals in his first six appearances for Jurgen Klopp's side.
