IFA Shield: Mohun Bagan and Crystal Palace lose, ten-man East Bengal win

Mohun Bagan went down to DSK-Liverpool as TFA downed Crystal Palace while a 10-man East Bengal picked a victory over Salgaocar FC

DSK-Liverpool defeated Mohun Bagan by a 2-0 scoreline in the IFA Shield (U-19), on Thursday, which was also the inaugural match at the newly floodlit Mohun Bagan training ground.

The win took the Pune-based team to the top of the table with man of the match Lallianzuala Chhangte converting from the spot in the 19th minute after Sourav Das was guilty of a hand ball inside the Bagan box. Azaruddin scored the second goal for the Pune outfit from a free-kick.

Tata Football Academy (TFA) continued their winning ways as they thrashed Crystal Palace boys 3-1 at the Kalyani stadium. Subham Ghosh bagged a brace and was adjudged the man of the match.

Victor Fundi had given Crystal Palace the lead in the sixth minute which was cancelled by Subham's penalty goal in the 23rd minute. Firoz Khan put TFA in the lead in the first half injury time before Subham (54') doubled their advantage less than 10 minutes into the second session of play.

Despite being pulled down to 10 men in the 35th minute, East Bengal battled it out and also registered a 2-0 win over Salgaocar FC at the Barasat Stadium. The teams were locked at 0-0 at the break by when Manoj was given the marching orders. However, Arup Roy struck twice (65', 75') in the second half minutes to give the Red and Golds three points.
