Road to U-17 World Cup: India come from behind to record 3-3 stalemate against SC Wehen

The India colts continued their impressive showing in Germany as they came from two goals behind for an impressive 3-3 result...

The India U-17 World Cup squad, which is playing a series of friendly matches in Germany recorded a 3-3 draw against the SV Wehen youth team which plies its trade in the 3. Liga.

Abhijit Sarkar, Komal and Amarjit Singh were the scorers from India as India came from 3-1 down to tie the game.

Sanjeev had a chance to open the scoring for the Blue Tigers in the 10th minute itself but miscued his effort. The slip-up was disastrous as Wehen scored two quickfire goals in the 11th and 13th minute to gain a massive advantage.

The Colts got one goal back through Abhijit who ran onto a through pass from midfield and made no mistake in beating the opposition custodian, about five minutes from the half hour mark. Wehen struck back in the very next minute to retain their two goal advantage.

The half time pep talk seemed to have done wonders as Nicolai Adam's wards came out all guns blazing. It was Komal who scored just four minutes after the restart with a towering header off a Ninthoi cross from the right wing.

After wasting an opportunity at the hour mark when Abhijit smashed his shot wide, India had a golden opportunity to equalise after Joysana earned a penalty when he was brought down in the box.

It was Amarjit Singh who stepped up to take the spot-kick and made no mistake, making it 3-3 in the 73rd minute.

Both teams searched for the winner, but the scoreline ended up 3-3 with the Indians displaying remarkable grit to mount a comeback.
