“From Ronaldo de Assis Moreira to Ronaldinho”

Ronaldinho was born in the city of Port Alegre, the state capital of Rio Grande Do Sul. Ronaldinho’s father was a ship worker and played for a local club called Esporte Clube Cruzeiro. Football was always part of the family and Ronaldinho was given his nick-name because he was often the youngest and smallest player in youth club matches. The skill master started off his youth career at Gremio and played at big European clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and AC Milan before returning to Brazil to play for Flamengo in 2011 before moving to his present club Atletico Miniero.

“Too crazy for marriage”

The World Cup winner had an affair with Janaina Mendes, a Brazilian dancer. The duo had their first child on 25th February 2005, named Joao, after Ronaldinho late father. The Brazilian ace was once married to Milene Domingues but they divorced, and the former Barcelona star claimed that he was too crazy for marriage.

“Ronaldinho Gaucho – Comic Strip”

The Brazilian playmaker was at the peak of his game in 2006. The player garnered so much fame that even a comic strip was named after him which was created by Mauricio De Sousa. It features a fictionalised version of the soccer player with the same name, featuring as a child.

Ronaldinho has not only been a famous and successful footballer, he has amassed a number of prestigious trophies to show for it. Apart from winning the league during his stint with Barcelona and AC Milan, he also won the Champions League with the Catalan club. Ronaldinho loves different types of food, but his favourite is his mother’s special  ‘feijoada’, which is Brazil’s national dish. Another dish the midfielder loves to eat is called ‘churrasco’, a famous dish from the south of Brazil, where this legend was born.

“The lavish life”

The ex-AC Milan player is one of the richest players in the football world and lives a luxurious lifestyle. The former World Player of the Year has two huge houses in Brazil and Spain. Not only are his houses massive, they are decorated with expensive fittings and its walls are adorned by expensive paintings.

“Expensive fetish”

The forward is one who does not hesitate to splash his money. The Atletico Mineiro star has a fetish for high-end cars and drives around in a Mercedes Benz E Class and a Mercedes Benz CLS luxury vehicle. Ronaldinho occasionally also travels by hired private jets.

“Making the world a better place”

Ronaldinho owns a philanthropic foundation and does a lot towards charity. Apart from his charitable donations, the World Cup winner has also accepted an invitation from the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and Brazil’s ministry of health to promote AIDS awareness through sport.

“One last hurrah”

Brazil is set to host the Fifa World Cup in 2014, and what would be a better finish to a glorious international career than to win a World Cup at home. Ronaldinho has come back to his homeland, to be noticed by the coach and is working hard on his fitness. The 2002 World Cup winner is a part of the current Brazilian squad and will be looking forward to a fitting farewell.
