Sergio Farias has officially joined Suphanburi FC for a second stint after having signed for NorthEast United FC in May. Goal had earlier exclusively reported of this development.
Of the 24 matches Suphanburi FC played under Farias’ first tenure, they managed 10 wins, eight draws and six defeats. Farias will take charge of the team when they face Buriram United at the Suphanburi Municipality Stadium on July 9.
NorthEast United are left in the lurch due to Farias' decision to turn his back on the club after having handpicked a few signings.
It must be noted that Farias had claimed that there wasn't anything more to achieve at Suphanburi for him and hence he opted to join the north east franchise of the Indian Super League (ISL).
" Coaches like me don't look at the salary but the project of the club. In Thailand, the project was just to go to the Asian Champions League, but I couldn't see the club (Suphanburi FC) wanting more. That's why I left. It's not just about qualifying; it's about continuing the work in the next year to do better," he had told Goal .
For Suphanburi, Farias brings with him a wealth of experience when it comes to working with talented young players. Apart from coaching former World Player of the Year, Ronaldinho, at the U-20 level, the likes of Lucio and Diego have also been groomed under him.
