Liverpool and Atletico Madrid have mutually agreed to end defender Javi Manquillo's two-year loan at Anfield one year early.
The Spanish club decided that the 21-year-old full-back did not get sufficient game time at Anfield last term and the Reds have accepted that he would not get more in 2015-16.
Atleti still intend to loan out Manquillo for the coming season, confirming on their official website that he will not link up with Diego Simeone's squad for pre-season as offers are considered.
The youngster started 18 games across all competitions for Brendan Rodgers' side last term, making a further one apearance off the bench.
The arrival of Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton this summer made it likely that Manquillo would get no further opportunities at right-back.
