Spurs hosted the Premier League champions and took the lead after 15 minutes through Roman Pavlyuchenko. However, following the introduction of Didier Drogba Chelsea equalised and were then awarded a penalty in the dying minutes.
Drogba’s penalty was saved by Heurelho Gomes to earn his side a draw, but Bassong believes Spurs' performance merited a victory.
“As they missed a penalty right at the end I don’t feel too disappointed but I thought we could have won the game," Bassong told the club's official website.
“The first half was brilliant, we got after them, pressurised them and got ahead.
"We played well and when they put Drogba on, then Lampard on, we had to expect that pressure, we did well.
“When you look at the way we played, that’s why we’re disappointed not to win and we have to be that way. "
Tottenham have enjoyed a successful campaign so far, sitting fifth in the Premier League table and having won their Champions League group to qualify for the next round.
The Spurs defender was disappointed to only take a draw from the game against the Blues, and has suggested his side should have taken their chances to ensure a victory over their London rivals.
“Perhaps we could have finished it off in the first half," he added.
"One thing’s for sure, we really wanted to win this game.”
