South Africa coach Carlos Parreira may have to make do without the services of experienced goalkeeper Emile Baron at this summer's World Cup due to a shoulder injury.
The 30-year-old picked up the injury during South Africa's training camp in Brazil in mid-March and has since been sidelined. Baron was initially expected to be unavailable for only a couple of weeks.
However, SuperSport United have now revealed that Baron will probably not be match fit in time for the 2010 World Cup as the glovesman has undergone surgery.
Baron has been capped six times at senior level and was widely expected to be a part of South Africa's final squad for this summer's tournament. The absence of Baron could mean that veteran goalie Hans Vonk could make a return to the Bafana Bafana squad.
