Mohun Bagan resumed business as usual in the Calcutta Football League (CFL) as they thrashed Army XI 6-0, on Saturday.
The Mariners were leading 1-0 at half-time and their opposition would have thought they had a chance to come back into the game at the interval. However, a second half blitz by Bagan saw Daniel Bedemi score thrice alongside Darryl Duffy and Azharuddin Mullick.
Despite opening the scoring in the13th minute courtesy of Daniel Bidemi, there were no goals to show for the remainder of the first half.
It was Bidemi again who doubled Bagan's lead in the 53rd minute with the simplest of finishes from a Saran Singh free-kick. Bagan increased their lead six minutes later, this time Darryl Duffy getting on the act with a well taken goal.
Bidemi completed his hat-trick in the 65th minute with a thunderbolt right-footed drive. It was Azharuddin’s turn to get on the act in the 78th minute and before Bidemi scored his fourth and Bagan’s sixth in the dying seconds of the game.
Shankarlal Chakraborty's side has 19 points from seven matches.
