Premier Futsal: Ronaldinho leaves for Brazil midway into season, Cafu to replace him

The elegant Brazilian, who scored five goals on Sunday evening, has left for Brazil on Monday and will be replaced by the captain of his World Cup winning squad.

Former Barcelona footballer Ronaldinho, who was the marquee player of the Goa franchise in the ongoing Premier Futsal tournament, has decided to leave for Brazil midway into the tournament, after taking part in a couple of games in last three days.

The high-profile footballer is an official ambassador of the 2016 Paralympics Games scheduled to be held in Rio in September, has pulled out of the Indian competition after coming up with a stellar show on Sunday evening, when he scored five goals in a single match.

This means, the Goan fans will not be able to witness the star play in front of them even though the organizers have arranged for a quick replacement.

Cafu, the only footballer ever to have played in three consecutive World Cup finals ever, will now be the marquee player of the Goa side. The 46-year old Brazilian football legend had announced his retirement from football back in 2008 and it remains to be seen to what extent he can fill the void left by his 36-year old former teammate.

However, it can be safely concluded the new tournament lost a bit of its gloss with the departure of Ronaldinho.
