Indian Super League side FC Pune City have added 26 year old midfielder James Bailey to their burgeoning roster as the club want to finalize their squad for the Indian Super League (ISL).
Besides announcing marquee player Adrian Mutu and midfielder Didier Zokora, the Hrithik Roshan co-owned franchisee also have goalkeeper Steve Simonsen, full-back Nicky Shorey and striker Yendrick Ruiz on their books.
During the unveiling of their Romanian marquee player it was head coach David Platt who let it slip that he also convinced the former Derby County and Barnsley midfielder to join his side.
"I also welcome [James] Bailey, besides [Adrian] Mutu to Pune. Bailey had some doubts about coming to India, but I had a talk with him and convinced him about our cause," said the Pune boss.
The midfielder who is equally able to slot in at right-back started his footballing career in Crewe Alexandra in the League One.
After Crewe's relegation to League Two, Bailey switched to Championship side Derby County in 2010-11, besides spending two years on loan to Coventry City.
Last year he was part of Barnsely in League One, where he made 14 appearances for the Tykes in League 1. However after signing a two year deal, he saw his contract terminated on 23rd July with his last appearance coming for Colchester on 6th April.
After a disappointing outing last year, the team made a huge splash in the ISL auction as they bagged promising midfielder Jackichand Singh and I-League's best midfielder last time around, Eugeneson Lyngdoh.
