The diminutive winger has signed for Salgaocar FC for the I-League season 2014-15 after representing Dempo in the I-League, on loan from IMG Reliance.
Sanju had started his senior career with Air India in 2006 before representing the Red and Golds for five seasons between 2008-13, during which he scored ten goals in 72 appearances.
While he was a regular with East Bengal under Trevor James Morgan, and was even made captain of the side, Sanju was gradually sidelined after a change of management and also was plagued by injuries which led to him joining the IMG Reliance initiative.
The 25 year old from Sikkim has been capped for the senior national team thrice. With age on the side of him, he would look to get into new India boss, Stephen Constantine's good books and a good stint with the Greens will certainly work in his favour.
At Salgaocar, Sanju will re-unite with schoolmate and childhood friend, Bikash Jairu. Both coincidentally were first spotted at the ‘Search for More Bhaichungs’ programme and trained together at the Namchi Sports Hostel in Sikkim.
The goal scoring winger would don the No. 9 jersey under Derrick Pereira hoping to change their fortunes, after their recent poor run of form. This is Salgaocar's second signing in as many days after Yemeni midfielder, Khaled Baleid was added to their ranks.
