Salgaocar FC have completed the signing of Yemen international Khaled Hasan Hussein Baleid till the end of the I-League 2014/15 season, Goal can confirm.
The 28-year-old midfielder who is equally comfortable playing in the left wing back or left back positions, last played for Al Tilal SC in Yemen, the club with whom he had begun his youth career in 1998.
Baleid won the Yemeni League title once and finished as runners up in the 2002 AFC U-17 Championship in national team colours.
"He (Baleid) arrived in Goa today (Thursday) morning and has completed his medicals at the club," the player's agent, Rhys Mascarenhas informed Goal.
Salgaocar, who are sixth in the league standings, have scored 6 goals in 7 matches while the Green and White's coach Derrick Pereira had confirmed of signing the Asian attacking midfielder after their last match against Bharat FC which they lost with a margin of 2-0.
"We need to get reinforcements in certain areas. We have shortlisted an Asian player and hopefully we will get him in time. We are lacking that firepower in front. You can't defend for 90 minutes. You also need to put pressure on the opponent," the gaffer was quoted after Sunday's result.
