'Playing under Subhash Sir was a childhood dream' - Lalkamal Bhowmick

The 27-year old has once again joined his former side in order to help them pose a title challenge next season...

Lalkamal Bhowmick remarked that playing under Subhash Bhowmick was a 'childhood dream'.

The central midfielder was plying his trade for United Sports Club for the last three seasons, and has finally decided to cut his ties and join the Green and Maroon brigade.

"It feels great to come back to Mohun Bagan. I had gained popularity playing here in the last decade and I will try to improve my performance this time," Bhowmick told Goal after signing the deal.

He also stressed that the presence of Subhash Bhowmick in the technical staff played an important role in convincing him to join Bagan.

"We have grown up hearing his name. It was a childhood dream to represent his team and I have never been part of any team managed by him. I think the chance has come at the right time," he mentioned.

Having made only nine appearances this season in the I-League due to an injury, Bhowmick hopes for a better show in the 2014-15 season.

"I had to fight with a number of injuries last season but the next season hopefully will be better. I have to work on my fitness. I have read reports that our coach will start the pre-season as early as 1st June and I think that will make me ready for a grueling campaign," he opined.

Bhowmick was one of the important players for United SC as the club struggled with financial crisis. He categorically stated that his decision to quit the club was down to monetary considerations.

"United has been like a family for me and will remain so. Had there been no financial problem, I would have certainly continued here. But it became hard for me to perform well under those conditions," he signed off.
